Periscope partnership

The Periscope network is provided by a highly competent group of blue clusters, knowledge institutions and regional business support organizations across the North Sea region. The network has links to thousands of businesses, experts and finance, allowing members to benefit from market insight, venture acceleration support and matchmaking.

South Norway European Office

The lead partner of Periscope is an international business support organisation, owned by Aust-Agder & Vest-Agder County, Cities of Kristiansand & Arendal, supporting companies, public sector and research & innovation in South Norway with European Blue Growth insight, partner search and international innovation projects. It runs a regional Horizon 2020 network to improve international innovation capacity, link with key players in Europe and bring regional players into European projects.

Global Center of Expertise NODE

GCE NODE is a global competency and expertise hub for the design and supply of drilling equipment, offshore mooring and loading systems, advanced heave compensated cranes and complete floating production and storage units and drilling units to the oil&gas and maritime industries. In addition, technology is delivered to markets like offshore wind, subsea mining and aquaculture. Key expertise within the cluster is mechatronics, ICT, global value chain and supply risk and management.

Aarhus University 

The Aarhus University is host to the Strategic Foresight Research Network, which has a long track record of developing methodologies and providing industry foresight. Its leader, Professor René Rohrbeck, has served previously as innovation director of the EIT Digital, where he has implemented a holistic approach for networked industry foresight. He has also advised leading firms from different industries on building foresight and strategic business development capabilities.

Nederland Maritiem Land (NML) 

NML facilitates the Dutch maritime network; innovation a core theme, triple helix cooperation is facilitated by NML. In a strong NML Innovation Council, stakeholders unite and focus on key priorities in maritime R&D&I. Joint Industry Projects are initiated, feasibility studies stimulated. The Government discusses national maritime R&D&I priorities through NML. NML works closely with Netherlands Maritime Technology (NMT), representing shipyards, marine equipment suppliers and service providers.

Samenwerkingsverband Noord Nederland (Northern Netherlands Alliance, SNN)

SNN is the Managing Authority for the Northern Netherlands’ responsible for the regional ERDF programme. It coordinates implementation of the Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialization (RIS3) and OP ERDF in the Northern Netherlands. SNN is the networking organization for government agencies, knowledge institutes, businesses and intermediate organizations in the Northern Netherlands. The main aim is to strengthen the regional economy, in particular focusing on innovation.

Business Region Göteborg (BRG)

BRG works to strengthen and develop trade and industry in the Gothenburg region. BRG creates the conditions for innovation by strengthening cooperation in industries with growth potential. The maritime sector is one of the regions focus areas. BRG has strong links to West Swedish Subsea Network - a network for West Swedish companies operating in the subsea area and the Business Network in the area of maritime operations.

European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) 

EMEC is the world’s leading centre for testing wave and tidal energy converters at sea. Having hosted 17 companies (with 27 prototypes), more marine energy devices have been trialled at EMEC than any other site in the world. EMEC runs an international group for all the wave and tidal test sites. EMEC is on the management group for the H2020 MaRINET II project, both of which focus on transnational support for industrial development in the ocean energy sector.

4strat GMBH

4strat supports companies and public organisations in developing strategic foresight processes and in making strategic decisions. 4strat enables knowledge transfer through an online tool that supports interactive exchange, trend ratings and other methods to support the strategic foresight process. These competencies could be a key to the success of the Periscope project as it guarantees topic-related support and easy knowledge transfer between and within the ecosystem.

Center of Maritime Technologies e.V. (CMT) 

Center of Maritime Technologies is a membership-based organisation in Hamburg with 85 members from industry (shipping, shipbuilding, ship equipment, classification societies & service providers), academia and research centres. CMT fosters maritime R&D&I and has close relationships with maritime industry associations and local clusters. Main research competences relate to production techniques, materials & structures, ship/offshore concepts, energy management & life cycle performance assessment.

Offshore Energy Denmark (OED) is the official national knowledge centre and innovation network for the Danish offshore industry, facilitating networking activities within the offshore sector and universities. OED also manages technical and industry-wide development projects, participates in knowledge sharing activities and B2B events, and promotes of the Danish offshore sector in an international perspective. More than 270 member Companies.

Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen (HU) 

The Hanze University of Applied Sciences is the largest university of applied sciences in the North Netherlands, and has an overall focus on (renewable) energy, healthy ageing and entrepreneurship. In the Knowledge Center Bio- based Economy, these three domains come together. This knowledge center will contribute to PERISCOPE particularly by bringing in expertise on new business models (for single companies and value chains) and the circular/inclusive economy.

RISE – The Swedish Research Institute

RISE is a leading international research institute, working closely with customers to create value, delivering high-quality input in all parts of the innovation chain, and playing an important part in assisting the competitiveness of industry and its evolution towards sustainable development. The technical departments and subsidiary companies provide strong research environments, extensive knowledge, testing and demonstration facilities.

Marine South East 

MSE is a sector consortium for marine industries, established in 2005, to stimulate investment and growth by marine and maritime companies. MSE engages with a large cluster of over 3300 marine companies and professionals, research organisations and public sector bodies. The cluster exploits strong historical strengths in marine equipment manufacture, building and operation; ports and maritime logistics; marine energy and living resources; marine science and leisure craft; equipment supply chains. The cluster is focussed upon developing capability to exploit the emerging ‘Blue Growth’ markets, particularly including marine energy and sustainable marine resource extraction.

Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult 

ORE Catapult is part of a network of Catapults set up by Innovative UK in high growth industries. It is the UK´s leading technology innovation and research centre for offshore wind, wave and tidal energy, working to improve energy production and lower operational costs. OREC supports the UK's research and innovation community through testing, validation and engineering expertise to accelerate the commercialisation of the latest new technologies and disruptive innovations.

Netherlands Maritime Technology 

The Netherlands Maritime Technology (NMT) trade association is the first port of call for and primary representative of the Dutch maritime technology sector. Their 400+ members include shipyards, marine equipment suppliers and service providers, all united within a close and highly successful network.
